Dear friends of Holy Trinity Chico –
It was great to be together and celebrate the marvel of Christ’s resurrection last Sunday! And it was nice to see several new faces this week. If you weren’t able to join us and would like to listen to a recording of our time together, you can find that here. If you would like a copy of Tom’s message notes, they are located here. As we live out our baptism into Christ’s death and new life, let’s remember that we are made complete in Him. He has fully saved us and empowered us to live lives pleasing to the Father through the ministry of the Spirit.
We are now in the fifty days of the Easter season, looking forward to Ascension Day (May 21st) and Pentecost Sunday (May 31st). Imagine what it was like for the original disciples during this time between Christ’s resurrection and His sending of His Spirit: periodic visits with Jesus over a 40-day period, watching Him ascend on the clouds to the Father’s right hand and waiting anxiously for Him to send the promise of the Father: the same Holy Spirit who had filled and empowered Jesus during His earthly ministry!
This Sunday, we’ll look together at a theme in Scripture that has been a rich source of encouragement for me over the past several months: living face-to-face with God the Father in Christ through the Spirit. In preparation, you might read John 14. We will meet again online this Sunday at 4pm via Zoom. To join the meeting, click here or on our website. As always, it’s best to check into the Zoom chat room a little early to make any necessary technical adjustments: we will have the meeting room ready by 3:50pm.
Some of you have expressed interest in a mid-week gathering, and it looks like either Tuesday or Thursday can work for everyone. We will plan to start in the next couple weeks. If you would like to be a part, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and let me know. The goal is to fellowship, pray, study scripture together and talk in a more informal setting, and we’d love to have you join us!
Remember this Sunday to bring your bible, bread and wine/grape juice for Holy Communion.
In Christ’s resurrection love –
Pastor Tom Mount
