Dear friends of Holy Trinity Chico –

I hope that, despite the ongoing COVID and air quality challenges, you are growing deep in your understanding of the Lord’s love for you and more genuinely responsive to Him. In challenging times, we often get a better sense of what is important in life. And what is supremely important is that we live, moment by moment, in intimate contact with the Father through the Son in the Spirit: that we commune with the triune God each conscious moment in love and trust and that we love others with the love He provides.

Last Sunday I gave you some of my reflections on the racial issues we are facing as a nation. Please keep in mind these are my thoughts, not the “official” position of the church, since there is no official position. We encourage each of us to study, pray and reflect on this important topic and draw whatever conclusions the Lord leads us to individually. If you didn’t catch the service or want to listen to it again, you can watch the recording here. The message notes and outline and are found here.

This Sunday I will share my reflections on the upcoming election. I plan to post the outline by Saturday night or Sunday morning (sorry I was late this past week!). To join the 4pm service this Sunday, click here or on our website. As always, check into the Zoom chat room a little early to say your “Hellos” and get settled. Remember to bring your bible, the sermon outline, bread and wine/grape juice for Holy Communion.

Please continue to pray for those in the church that the Lord puts on your heart. A number of our friends are dealing with significant health issues, with the grief of losing a loved one and/or with loneliness and discouragement during this time of restricted social interaction and heavy smoke. But Jesus continues to answer our prayers and remain near to us.

With you in Christ –

Tom
