Dear friends of Holy Trinity Chico –

Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. With these words, Paul and his friends opened their second letter to the Thessalonian church, a letter we are going to looking closely at the next several weeks. I hope that, as you go through this week, you really experience God’s grace in the form of his favor and delight, and his deep, pervasive shalom.

Last Sunday, Craig reminded us—from 1 Tim 1:6-10—about the extraordinary gift of the Holy Spirit that God has given, and the power, love and “sound mind” believers possess as a result. The Spirit is more than the benefits he conveys: he is a person, one of the three Persons of the holy Trinity. And like the Father and Son, the Spirit loves us and invites us into an intimate companionship with him. If you missed the service, you can view the recording here.

I want to thank Craig for stepping in for me at the last minute! I had intended to begin a new series on 2 Thessalonians but came down with the flu late in the week, so Craig graciously took over. So, this Sunday, the Lord willing, we will start the series. As we are going to see, the church in Thessalonica faced some similar issues to those we face today and there is a lot we can learn from a study of the letter. For those unable to attend in person, be sure to tune in to our livestream at 9am Sunday morning at the following YouTube link:  We will also record the service, so you can watch the recording after it is posted next week.

Men, if you are interested in getting together with other men to develop friendships and deepen your relationship with Christ, mark your calendars for 6:30pm February 16. More details will follow, but our goal is to meet for dinner and discuss ideas for ministering to men at Holy Trinity.

If you are looking for a bible study where you can connect relationally and grow spiritually, we’d love to have you join us on Tuesday nights from 7-8pm. We meet at the church building for prayer, fellowship and prayerful study of John’s Gospel. We also have Zoom setup for those unable to meet in person. Please use the following link:

Has God been prompting you to pray more for our nation, state, city and His church? If so, come join us each Friday at the church building from 12-1pm. We are asking the Lord to expose evil, frustrate the plans of bad actors, raise up his church is strong, vocal faith and restore righteousness, integrity and love in our land.

Thanks so much for your continued prayers for those in our body who face health issues, losses, financial difficulties and other challenges. One of the great privileges we have is to hold each other up in prayer. Please be in prayer particularly for David Calkins (medical issues), James Johnson (cancer), Sharon Anderson (long COVID), Keri Oliva (cancer), Kaylinn Hignell (cancer), Lorraine Freeman (medical issues), Nola Taylor (hospice care), Barbara Trimmer (medical issues) and the Dahlberg family (COVID). Thank you!

In his great love –
