Dear friends of Holy Trinity Chico –

I hope this finds you well and enjoying the cool fall weather and much needed rain. More than anything, I pray it is well with your soul: that you are drawing near to the Father and Son in the Spirit and enjoying their blessings.

Thank you so much, those of you who worked on the church building last Saturday, clearing rooms and creating more ministry space! It was a great time of pulling together for a common goal. In the coming months and years, we will continue to repair and restore this special place the Lord has given us to worship him and build each other up in Christ. Our goal is that it reflect the beauty of God and be a blessing to our city.

Last Sunday, we began to look at an astonishing New Testament passage: Colossians 3:12-14. The focus was on our new identity as Christ followers. We saw that God describes us as chosen, holy and dearly loved. As we increasingly internalize these self descriptors and understand them to summarize our deepest selves, we will learn to live in ways consistent with them. If you missed the message, you can check out the sermon outline and slides here and the recording here.

This Sunday, we’ll continue in this same text. Verse 13 talks about the importance of practicing forgiveness, and we will consider what forgiveness is and isn’t, why it’s vitally important, what it entails and the steps required to extend it. If you are unable to attend the service in person, please tune in at 9am using this Zoom link.

The passcode is the same as always: 0404. We will also record the service, so you can watch the recording after it is posted the following week.

As always, please be sure to stay for a few minutes after the service to enjoy some coffee, snacks and fellowship. Thank you, Bishop family, for making this fellowship time possible!

If you are looking for a bible study where you can connect relationally and grow spiritually, we’d love to have you join us on Tuesday nights from 7-8pm at the church building. We pray, fellowship and study John’s Gospel. We are just about to being John 16. We also have Zoom setup for those unable to meet in person. Please use the following link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82177078238

We also have a prayer group that meets on Fridays at noon to pray for our nation, state, city and church and would love for you to join us! We are asking the Lord to expose evil, frustrate the plans of bad actors, raise up his church is strong, vocal faith and restore righteousness, integrity and love in our land. Join us at the church building from 12-1pm. All are welcome.

Finally, we would love to have your help in Kid’s Church when you are able. No special skills are needed: just a love for our kids. You can sign up by letting Lynn know or by using the calendar on our website. Here’s the link.

Thanks so much for your prayers for those in our body who face health issues, losses, financial difficulties and other challenges. Please be in prayer particularly for Danielle Penne (healing for her leg), Don Rogers (recovering from West Nile Virus), Keri Oliva (cancer), Laine Dahlberg (premature baby), Nola Taylor (hospice care), Barbara Trimmer (medical issues), James Johnson (cancer).

In his rich grace –

Tom
