Dear friends of Holy Trinity Chico –

Blessings to you during this twenty-first week of the Trinity Season!

Please continue in prayer for next week’s elections. It is such an important time in the life of our republic. We need for God to stir his Church to return to him with zeal, boldness and holy love. And we need elected representatives and public policies that reflect his righteousness and justice. So, speak up, pray, vote and be a force for good in our world!

Last Sunday, we resumed our study of Paul’s letter to the Romans, with Craig guiding us through one of its most important passages: Romans 5:1-11. The text summarizes Paul’s argument up to this point and introduces themes that he will expand on in the next three chapters. If you missed the service, you can watch it here.

This Sunday, we will look at Romans 5:12-21, where the apostle draws a stark contrast between our natural identity as humans “in Adam” and our supernatural identity as Christians “in Christ.” Because the Holy Spirit has immersed us into Jesus, the power of sin is broken over us and its penalty, paid. For those unable to attend the service in person, be sure to tune in to our livestream at 9am Sunday morning.

If you are looking for a small group bible study, I invite you to join us on Tuesday nights from 7-8 pm for sharing, prayer and a study of the Letter of James. We meet in the sanctuary at the church and would love to have you be a part. You can also attend via Zoom at

Here are a few upcoming dates for you to get on your calendar.

  • Nov 18 – YWAM annual banquet
  • Nov 20 – Friendsgiving dinner
  • Dec 24 – Our Christmas eve/Christmas service (Note: No service on Dec 25th)

Can you set aside an hour this week to pray for Christ’s Church, our nation, state and city? There is a group of us who have been meeting for two years on Fridays from 12-1pm at the church building. We have been asking the Lord to bring repentance and new life to his people, to expose evil, frustrate the plans of bad actors and restore righteousness, integrity and love in our land. We have seen so many concrete answers to prayer. Please consider joining us this week and as often as you can make it. “The effective prayer of a righteous person accomplishes much” (James 5:16b).

Thanks so much for your continued prayers for those in our body who face health issues, losses, financial difficulties and other challenges. Please be in prayer particularly for James Johnson (cancer), Tom and Connie Vervoorn (medical issue, major house fire), Danielle Penne (upcoming surgery, Emmett and Pat Jarvis (Louis’ dad [stage 4 cancer] and mom [dementia]), Phil Larios (medical issue), Kaylinn Hignell (cancer), Nola Taylor (hospice care), Barb Trimmer (medical issues). Please continue to pray for an end to the bloodshed in Ukraine and for God’s will to be done in the upcoming midterm elections. Thank you!

In Trinitarian joy –
