Dear friends of Holy Trinity Chico –
What a great time we had together last Sunday after our church service at our first fall festival! It was so good to hang out together, enjoying tasty food, watching the kids play and enjoying each other’s company. Thank you, Jen Silberbauer, for organizing the event! And thank you—all of you—who contributed by setting up, making chile, baking goodies, cleaning up and organizing the various games! Finally, thank you, Jesus, for a beautiful day and a really special time. I love our little church family. Last Sunday was a reminder of how, as a smaller church, we have the ability to all be together in one place and enjoy sweet fellowship.
Speaking of fellowship: be sure to mark your calendars for these upcoming events:
Friendsgiving – 5pm on Sunday, November 14. Enjoy an early Thanksgiving celebration with your church family. The turkey, potatoes, stuffing and gravy will be catered. To bring a side dish, dessert, drink or rolls, or to register to attend, please sign up here. We will also have a sign-up sheet in the lobby this Sunday.
Christmas Eve service – 4pm on Friday, December 24. Enjoy a short, family centered celebration of the Nativity with creative worship, music and the Christmas story, ending with a candlelight singing of “Silent Night.”
Last Sunday, we looked for a third time at Colossians 3:12-14, this New Testament text is chock full of rich theological content. In Sunday’s message, we explored the four Greek conceptions of love, considered two conditions necessary for the expression of agape-love and ended with a look at three ways to grow in this special, God-given type of love. If you missed the message, you can check out the sermon outline and slides here and the recording here.
This Sunday, we will complete our consideration of Col 3:12-14 by turning our attention to the six relational graces mentioned in the text. How can we build satisfying friendships and love others well? Paul tells us in these verses. If you are unable to attend the service in person, please tune in at 9am using this Zoom link: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/8310961120?pwd=VW1lRk1Wck9xWkFvK2FHanh2QmhEdz09
The passcode is: 0404. We will also record the service, so you can watch the recording after it is posted the following week.
If you are interested in adult baptism or child dedication, please connect with Tom via email or in person at one of our services.
If you are looking for a bible study where you can connect relationally and grow spiritually, we’d love to have you join us on Tuesday nights from 7-8pm at the church building. We pray, fellowship and study John’s Gospel. We are just about to begin John 17. We also have Zoom setup for those unable to meet in person. Please use the following link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82177078238
We also have a prayer group that meets on Fridays at noon to pray for our nation, state, city and church and would love for you to join us! We are asking the Lord to expose evil, frustrate the plans of bad actors, raise up his church is strong, vocal faith and restore righteousness, integrity and love in our land. Join us at the church building from 12-1pm. All are welcome.
Thanks so much for your continued prayers for those in our body who face health issues, losses, financial difficulties and other challenges. Please be in prayer particularly for Danielle Penne (healing for her leg), Don Rogers (recovering from West Nile Virus), Keri Oliva (cancer), Laine Dahlberg (premature baby), Nola Taylor (hospice care), Barbara Trimmer (medical issues), James Johnson (cancer).
A debtor to God’s grace –
