Dear friends of Holy Trinity Chico –

Blessings in the trifold Name during this final week of the Trinity Season! I hope you look forward to the upcoming season of Advent.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who made our Friendsgiving celebration at the church last Sunday night so memorable! Thanks to all who contributed salads, deserts and drinks. Thanks for those of you who stayed long afterward to help clean up! Thanks, Marcus, for being a fabulous emcee and “Name that Tune” host. And thanks, especially to Ashley Lundberg, Carrie Kueger and Lauren Avilla for your creative energy, hard work and attention to detail! The downstairs room looked gorgeous, the games were fun and the fellowship, relaxing and enjoyable.

Last Sunday, we celebrated the final Sunday of Trinity—Christ the King Sunday—by examining three important truths about the kingship of the Lord Jesus, examining both his current reign in heaven and his coming, universal reign over a renewed creation. If you missed the service, you can watch it here.

This Sunday, we will begin the four-week Advent season with the traditional theme of “Hope”. Craig will do the teaching. The following three themes are Faith, Joy and Love. If you are unable to attend the service in person, be sure to tune in to our livestream at 9am Sunday morning.

If you are looking for a small group bible study, I invite you to join us on Tuesday nights from 7-8 pm for sharing, prayer and bible study. We meet in the sanctuary at the church and would love to have you be a part. You can also attend via Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81655475348

Can you set aside an hour this week to pray for Christ’s Church, our nation, state and city? There is a group of us who have been meeting for two years on Fridays from 12-1pm at the church building. We have been asking the Lord to bring repentance and new life to his people, to expose evil, frustrate the plans of bad actors and restore righteousness, integrity and love in our land. We have seen so many concrete answers to prayer. Please consider joining us this week and as often as you can make it. “The effective prayer of a righteous person accomplishes much” (James 5:16b).

Thanks so much for your continued prayers for those in our body who face health issues, losses, financial difficulties and other challenges. Please be in prayer particularly for James Johnson (cancer), Tom and Connie Vervoorn (medical issue, major house fire), Danielle Penne (upcoming surgery), Emmett and Pat Jarvis (Louis’ dad [stage 4 cancer] and mom [dementia]), Ron Reid (medical issue), Phil Larios (medical issue), Kaylinn Hignell (cancer), Nola Taylor (hospice care), Barb Trimmer (medical issues). Also, please continue to pray for an end to the bloodshed in Ukraine and for liberation for the people of Iran. Thank you!

May you have a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration this Thursday!

Tom
