Dear friends of Holy Trinity Chico –

As we transition from the Epiphany season to the Lenten season next week, we will have the opportunity to collectively prepare our hearts for the wonder of the Easter week events: Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday. To help us prepare, we have resumed our exploration of Paul’s letter to the Ephesians. Craig did an exceptional job last Sunday reacquainting us to this New Testament book by looking at the first thirteen verses of Chapter 2. This Sunday, we will pick up where we left off by diving into the next section of the letter, verses 14-19. These verses contain one of the most beautiful and theologically suggestive prayers anywhere in the Bible. To access a recording of last Sunday’s service, click here. The notes and slides may be found here.

If you can’t attend our in-person Sunday services, please tune in at 9am using this Zoom link: https://zoom.us/j/99123315621?pwd=SzU3VFFYenVYdy9ENUdvWGFRaU9jZz09

The passcode is: 0404. We will also record the service each week, so you can watch the recording after it is posted later in the week, typically Tuesday or Wednesday.

If you are willing to occasionally help love on our adorable kids in children’s church, we would be grateful and you would be blessed! Please sign up on the calendar on our website or by using this link. No special skills are required. Our director, Lynn does all the planning and heavy lifting, you get to just love on them.

Thank you for your continued prayers for those in our body who face health issues, losses, financial difficulties and other challenges. Please pray especially for Darryl Brock as he navigates the grief of losing his beloved Ruthi last Friday. Never underestimate the power of our “little” prayers to make a huge difference in other’s lives. Pray, too, for our country. We so need it. This Friday, we will again host a special prayer time for our nation from 12-1pm, for those of you able to come.

Mark your calendar: Ash Wednesday is on February 17, a week from Wednesday! We plan to host a very short service from 5:30-6pm at the church building, then have a simple meal afterward from 6-6:45pm. If you’re not able to attend and would like to receive the traditional ashing that day, please make arrangements with Tom. You can drive by for an ashing and quick blessing. If you’re not familiar with the observance of Lent, you can click here for an information sheet that provides some background and practical suggestions.

Yours because His –

Tom
