Dear friends of Holy Trinity Chico –

Greetings in the name of our Lord this second week of the Lenten season!

Just a friendly reminder to set your clocks forward one hour this Saturday night for Daylight Savings time!

Men, plan to join us next Wednesday night, March 16, at 6:30pm at the church building for our men’s gathering. We’ll have a panel of guys discussing common issues we face as husbands/dads/sons of God, then take some time to talk in smaller groups before calling it a night at 8pm.

Women, beginning on April 25, Danielle Penne will lead a 7-week video group on ”Discerning the Voice of God” using the Priscilla Shirer videos. Mark your calendars and let her know if you want to come!

Last Sunday, we kicked off the Lenten season with a meditation on our Lord’s invitation in Matt 11:28-30 to come to him and wear his yoke in order to find real rest for our souls. We also talked about the rationale and flow of the Christian Church calendar. If you missed the service, you can view the recording here.

This week is our second in a series of Lenten reflections on the person, words and works of Jesus. We will look at Hebrews 2:14-18; 5:1-2 and 4:14-16, which provide insight into why Jesus took on a human body. For those unable to attend in person, be sure to tune in to our livestream at 9am Sunday morning at the following YouTube link https://youtu.be/cKD8kdTBgzI We will also record the service, so you can watch the recording after it is posted next week.

If you are looking for a bible study where you can connect relationally and grow spiritually, we’d love to have you join us on Tuesday nights as we study the book of Romans. We meet 7-8pm at the church building for prayer, fellowship and bible study. We also have Zoom setup for those unable to meet in person. Please use the following link.

Has God been prompting you to pray more for our nation, state, city and His church? If so, come join us each Friday at the church building from 12-1pm. We are asking the Lord to expose evil, frustrate the plans of bad actors, raise up his church is strong, vocal faith and restore righteousness, integrity and love in our land.

Thanks so much for your continued prayers for those in our body who face health issues, losses, financial difficulties and other challenges. One of the great privileges we have is to hold each other up in prayer. Please be in prayer particularly for David Calkins (healing of foot), James Johnson (cancer), Keri Oliva (cancer), Kaylinn Hignell (cancer), Mark Spelts (death of best friend), Nola Taylor (hospice care), Jason, Carrie and Lily Kruger (loss of Carrie’s grandfather), Phil Larios (medical issues) and Barbara Trimmer (medical issues). Please pray also for an end to the bloodshed in Ukraine. Thank you!

Under the mercy –

Tom
