Dear friends of Holy Trinity Chico –
It’s Holy Week! As we go through this final week of our Lord’s earthly life, let’s reflect deeply on the different events that unfolded and were so significant for our salvation: his inauguration of the New Covenant, His suffering and death, His descent to the underworld and, especially, His resurrection. It was a week like no other in human history and deserves our celebration and wonder.
Last Sunday, Brent used our Lord’s “cleansing of the temple” to challenge us to resist the drift we all experience toward half-hearted spiritual living. As Jesus cleared out the temple, he wants to clean out our hearts and re-focus us on himself. Brent then challenged us all to be reading our bibles each day to grow in our knowledge and love of God. If you missed the service, you can access the PowerPoint here and view the recording here.
This Sunday, Craig will teach the Easter Sunday message, pointing us again to the astonishing truth that Jesus defeated death and all the dark powers that seemed to have won out on Good Friday! For those unable to attend in person, be sure to tune in to our livestream at 9am Sunday morning at the following YouTube link: https://youtu.be/wThoABdJLvI. As you know, we will also record the service, so you can watch the recording after it is posted next week.
If you are looking for a bible study where you can connect relationally and grow spiritually, we’d love to have you join us on Tuesday nights as we study the book of Romans. We meet 7-8pm at the church building for prayer, fellowship and bible study. We also have Zoom setup for those unable to meet in person. Please use the following link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81655475348
Women, Danielle Penne will lead a 7-week video group on, “Discerning the Voice of God” using the Priscilla Shirer videos beginning April 25th. The group meets at the Penne’s house on Mondays from 6:30-8 pm. Mark your calendars, sign up in the lobby and let her know if you plan to come! The workbook is $16.99.
Men, plan to join us Wednesday night, April 13, from 6:30-8 pm at the church building for our next men’s gathering. We’ll talk about a simple, effective way to spend some time with the Lord each day as we seek to know him better and to become a better husband, dad and child of God.
Has God been prompting you to pray more for our nation, state, city and His church? If so, come join us each Friday at the church building from 12-1pm. We are asking the Lord to expose evil, frustrate the plans of bad actors, raise up his church is strong, vocal faith and restore righteousness, integrity and love in our land.
Thanks so much for your continued prayers for those in our body who face health issues, losses, financial difficulties and other challenges. One of the great privileges we have is to hold each other up in prayer. Please be in prayer particularly for Emmett and Pat Jarvis (Louis’ dad [stage 4 cancer] and mom [dementia]), Phil Larios (medical issue), Tom Vervoorn (medical issue), David Calkins (healing of foot), James Johnson (cancer), Kaylinn Hignell (cancer), Nola Taylor (hospice care), Mike and Terri Emmons (healing from car accident) and Barbara Trimmer (medical issues). Please pray also for an end to the bloodshed in Ukraine. Thank you!
Under the mercy –
