Dear friends of Holy Trinity Chico –

Please forgive my getting this out to you so late this week: the last few days got away from me! Blessings to you as we now approach the fifth Sunday of the Trinity season.

We have some upcoming gatherings you definitely will want to get down on your calendars:

  • Fellowship of hot dogs and side dishes after the service next Sunday, July 17, along with bounce houses and games for the kids. We will be having child dedications for two of our families, the Johnstons and the Wilsons. We will also be saying goodbye to the Johnstons as they head north to Montana. You can sign up tomorrow at church to bring a side dish.
  • Worship night next Wednesday, July 27, at the church building starting at 6:30pm and continuing until 7:30 or 8pm. Tamie Beach and Ashley Lundberg are organizing the event, and Craig Anderson will lead worship on his guitar.
  • Fellowship time at Richardson Springs YWAM base on Sunday, August 7, from 3-7pm, complete with barbeque and swimming. More details will follow, but save the date!

Last Sunday we studied the middle section of Romans 8 together, verses 18-25, where Paul develops this idea that the entire creation is groaning, eagerly wanting to be released from its current bondage to corruption, dissolution and death. We also groan waiting to have our bodies fully redeemed and glorified at the coming of our Lord Jesus, after which Jesus will renew the earth so that it reflects God’s glory and beauty. If you missed the service, you can view the recording here.

This Sunday, we will be saying a fond farewell to Ryan and Rosie Rogers and their girls, who are moving to Tennessee. We will pray for them during the service. Please be sure to bring your bibles (ESV, if you have one) as we continue our study of Romans 8. Read the chapter a few times before Sunday and bring your questions with you. We will look at verses 26-30, where Paul describes how the Holy Spirit helps us pray and the Father works all things for our good, culminating in our being fully glorified beings. For those unable to attend in person, be sure to tune in to our livestream at 9am Sunday morning at the following YouTube link https://youtu.be/SliuXnD_nX4  As you know, we will also record the service, so you can watch the recording after it is posted next week.

If God has been prompting you to pray more for his Church and for our nation, state and city, we’d love for you to join us on Fridays at the church building from 12-1pm. We are asking the Lord to bring repentance and new life, expose evil, frustrate the plans of bad actors and restore righteousness, integrity and love in our land. Come join us!

Thanks so much for your continued prayers for those in our body who face health issues, losses, financial difficulties and other challenges. Please be in prayer particularly for Danielle Penne (constant pain and upcoming surgery), Lynne Waite (severe back pain), Gena Penne (stroke recovery), Emmett and Pat Jarvis (Louis’ dad [stage 4 cancer] and mom [dementia]), Phil Larios (medical issue), Tom Vervoorn (medical issue), Jackie Musselman (recovery from knee surgery), James Johnson (cancer), Kaylinn Hignell (cancer), Ryan and Rosie Rogers (moving to Tennessee), Ryan and Bonnie Johnston (moving to Montana), Nola Taylor (hospice care) and Barbara Trimmer (medical issues). Please continue to for an end to the bloodshed in Ukraine and for God’s mercy in the upcoming mid-term elections. And pray for God to protect the lives of the unborn children in the face of the massive abortion industry. Thank you!

In the joy of the Holy Trinity –

Tom
