Dear friends of Holy Trinity Chico –

Blessings in the triune love of our Lord this ninth week of the Trinity season!

Thank you, everyone who brought food or helped pick up after our church fellowship time last Sunday at the Youth with a Mission base at Richardson Springs! Thanks especially to Carrie Krueger, who administrated the food and other details, and to Craig and Sharon Anderson for hosting us at your “home.” Lynn and I were at a celebration of life event in southern California and missed you all.

Last Sunday, Brent taught us about God’s perspective on money: “Living with an Open Hand.” Hopefully, his story about the sandwich will help all of us to remember the value of sacrificial giving to others!  If you missed the service, you can view the recording here.

This Sunday, we will begin a new series on Paul’s letter to the Romans. I encourage you to read over chapter one, especially vv. 1-7, ahead of time. As you read these verses, ask yourself: what words does Paul use to describe himself in these verses? How does he describe the Gospel? How does he refer to the Christians in Rome? These few verses tell us a lot about our identity in Christ and the message we bear. For those unable to attend in person, be sure to tune in to our livestream at 9am Sunday morning or watch the recording during the following week. The link is https://youtu.be/7NIYPOtiVrg

Please mark your calendar for 8am-12pm, August 27, for a ½ day of sprucing up the church and grounds! We’ll provide snacks for the event and supply additional information during the next week or two.

If God has been prompting you to pray more for his Church and for our nation, state and city, we’d love for you to join us on Fridays at the church building from 12-1pm. We are asking the Lord to bring repentance and new life, expose evil, frustrate the plans of bad actors and restore righteousness, integrity and love in our land. Come join us!

Thanks so much for your continued prayers for those in our body who face health issues, losses, financial difficulties and other challenges. Please be in prayer particularly for Tom and Connie Vervoorn (displaced due to a major house fire), Danielle Penne (constant pain and upcoming surgery), Lynne Waite (severe back pain), Emmett and Pat Jarvis (Louis’ dad [stage 4 cancer] and mom [dementia]), Phil Larios (medical issue), Tom Vervoorn (medical issue), Jackie Musselman (recovery from knee surgery), James Johnson (cancer and the death of his brother), Kaylinn Hignell (cancer), Nola Taylor (hospice care), Bob (salvation) and Barb Brown (colitis) and Barbara Trimmer (medical issues). Please continue to for an end to the bloodshed in Ukraine and for God’s mercy in the upcoming mid-term elections. And pray for God to protect the lives of the unborn children in the face of the massive abortion industry. Thank you!

Grace and peace –

Tom
