Dear friends of Holy Trinity Chico –

Blessings to you in the name of Jesus, our Lord, this fourteenth week of the Trinity season.

Last Sunday, we looked together at Romans 2:17-29, where Paul scandalized the members of the Roman church by making that case that neither circumcision nor possessing God’s law can save them. We then looked in some detail at the disinheritance of the nations after the Babel event of Genesis 11, the unique calling of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and the unifying work of Jesus, which makes Jews and Gentiles one in him. If you missed the service, you can access it here.

This Sunday, we will look together at the third chapter of Romans. Here, Paul summarizes the argument he has been making since the middle of chapter one: all people have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory. But he then pivots to talk about the awe inspiring grace to be found in Jesus Christ, whose work on the cross makes our justification possible. For those unable to attend in person, be sure to tune in to our livestream at 9am Sunday morning or watch the recording during the following week. Here is the link https://youtu.be/rFdxww_m8lI

If you are looking for a small group bible study, I invite you to join us on Tuesday nights from 7-8 pm for sharing, prayer and a study of the Letter of James. We meet in the sanctuary at the church and would love to have you be a part. You can also attend via Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81655475348
